What we do
Most landscape companies buy their plants from someone else. We grow ours, which means the person drawing your plan, the person picking the plant and the person putting it in the ground all answer to the same family name.

Design starts on your property, not in a catalog. We walk the ground with you, look at how water moves, where the sun lands and which views matter from inside the house, then draw a plan you can build in one season or in stages. Because we grow much of the stock ourselves, the plan is drawn around plants we know will hold up in central Ohio clay and wind.

Planting is the part most people get wrong, and it is the part that decides whether a tree is still thriving in ten years. Our crews dig the hole to the root flare, set the plant at the right grade, backfill with the native soil and water it in properly. Trees, shrubs, perennials and beds are all handled by the same people who grew or selected them.

Our nursery in Plain City carries northern grown trees, shrubs and perennials for wholesale buyers and for retail home gardeners. Northern grown matters here: stock raised in this climate goes into the ground already hardened off to Ohio winters. Come walk the rows, see the actual plant you are buying and ask what will work in the spot you have in mind.

Expert care for plants to ensure healthy growth.
Plants that were right for the spot ten years ago still need hands on them. We prune for structure and health rather than shearing everything into balls, and we will tell you honestly when a shrub has outlived the space instead of cutting it back one more time.

Mulch does more than tidy a bed. Put down at the right depth it holds moisture through an Ohio August, keeps soil temperature steady and keeps the mower away from your trunks. We edge the bed first, then mulch to depth, so the line stays crisp through the season.

Our people are out on properties and in the nursery rows most of the day, so the yard is open by appointment rather than set retail hours. One call sets a time that works, whether you want a design walk-through on your own property or an hour in the nursery picking plants.

Worthington Landscape Company started in 1974 and has stayed a family business ever since. Over that time the work has settled into three things that feed each other: designing landscapes, growing the plants for them, and putting those plants in the ground properly.
That is why customers who came to us for one shrub in the eighties still call about the whole yard now. We are licensed and insured, we belong to the Ohio Green Industry Association and the Columbus Landscape Association, and the person you talk to on the phone is the same outfit that shows up in the driveway.
Where we work
Our yard and nursery sit on Mitchell Dewitt Road in Plain City, which is where our design, planting and plant care work is based. Because the nursery is here, the plants going into a Plain City property have not spent days on a truck. They come off the rows the same morning the crew sets them.
